Since 2008 Sunderland Software City has supported the growth of over 400 software companies in the North East of England.
Sunderland Software City is inspiring and enabling the growth of the software sector in the North East of England, establishing the region as one of the world’s leading destinations for technology innovation and enterprise.
Established in 2008, the private sector initiated, publicly backed organisation brings together the best of the public, private and educational sectors to generate a sustainable software industry in the region and drive the development of world-class software businesses.
This includes continuing to work closely with partners like Sunderland City Council, the University of Sunderland and Sunderland College to ensure the region’s software industry has the facilities, access to opportunities, support, connections and skills it needs to compete globally.
We actively represent the sector and collaborate with organisations such as the Digital Catapult, Tech City UK and Tech North to deliver new initiatives that accelerate the development of the region’s software economy; attracting talent, investment and the recognition the North East deserves.
The Sunderland Software City project is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
The ERDF programme is bringing over £300m into the North East to support innovation, enterprise and business support across the region.
