Teesside University to spark new business at Meet the Buyer event

Businesses are invited to a new event in September to find out more about the support on offer from Teesside University to help them prosper and grow.

Doing Business @ Tees will see delegates from hundreds of businesses across the region spark new ideas, win new contracts and find new business opportunities.

The event forms part of a broader University strategy to engage with businesses and accelerate enterprise, business growth and skills development.

One major feature of the event will develop supply chains for both major public and private sector organisations.

Meet the Buyer will give businesses the chance to meet and sell face-to-face with key buying organisations from around the region and beyond, including Vela Group and Teesside University.

A business marketplace will help companies to raise their profile by showcasing their products and services to more than 200 delegates.

Delegates can get a taste of training and professional development opportunities through a series of Teesside University masterclasses on leadership, social media and innovation.

They will also hear, first hand, from businesses who have made bottom-line improvements working with Teesside University on training and development, graduate recruitment and consultancy and research.

They include PD Ports whose Group Chief Executive Officer, David Robinson, will be speaking at the event.

Teesside University worked with PD Ports to develop a University Certificate in Professional Development for Ports Facility Security Officers.

It also launched a unique foundation degree in Leadership and Management (Ports) in 2009.

Laura Woods, Director of Academic Enterprise at Teesside University, said: “Universities and businesses are constantly being urged to work more closely together – something we have always taken very seriously at Teesside.

“Holding a major business-to-business event on our Middlesbrough campus is a highly practical way of creating new opportunities for regional companies, and of demonstrating that Teesside University really does mean business.”

A range of sponsorship and exhibition opportunities is available.

Doing Business @ Tees takes place at Teesside University in Middlesbrough on Wednesday 18 September. Booking is essential.
