Organisation growth

On Wednesday 22nd February, Digital Pathfinders, along with Glass Digital Ltd hosted a workshop for North East organisations looking to improve and implement SEO strategies.

The workshop was delivered to North East SMEs where we explored what SEO was, and how to implement a successful strategy within your organisation. The hybrid workshop was well attended with a few people joining us online.

What is SEO?

SEO stands for "Search Engine Optimisation".  It refers to the practice of optimising a web page  to increase its visibility and ranking in the search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

The goal of SEO is to increase and improve organic (non-paid) traffic to a specific website. This is achieved by using various techniques such as optimising website content so that it suits the search engine’s algorithms, building high-quality backlinks, improving website speed and performance, and ensuring website design and structure is user-friendly. The higher a website ranks on a search engine, the more likely it is to receive clicks from potential customers.

How can SEO support business growth?

The importance of SEO cannot be denied. Here are some simple ways that having an SEO strategy can support business growth:

Increased visibility and traffic

SEO helps businesses increase their visibility in the search engine results pages, which can lead to more organic traffic to their website.

Cost-effective

Compared to paid advertising, SEO can be a cheaper way to attract potential customers to a website, as a lot of it you can do for free.

Trust and credibility

Websites that rank higher in the search engine results pages are often seen as more trustworthy and credible by potential customers.

Positive user experience

SEO techniques such as improving website speed, optimizing content, and ensuring a user-friendly website design can provide a better user experience for visitors to a website.

Competitive advantage

Businesses that have a well-optimized website are more likely to have a competitive advantage over those that do not.

Overall, SEO is an essential part of digital marketing and can lead to organisation visibility and generate more leads.

About the workshop

Jen MacDonald from Glass Digital led the workshop, and presented ways to improve your SEO including understanding what the various aspects of SEO are, how to achieve higher rankings on Google, and how to implement a successful SEO strategy within your business.

The workshop was extremely engaging, with lots of input from local businesses and gave great insight into how different businesses currently use SEO and significant changes they should be making to their strategy. It was great to see everybody getting involved and lots of discussions were had during the session.

What did attendees say?

Camille Colligan from Talentheads said:

“I attended the Digital Pathfinders event and found the session to be highly informative and the content was highly relevant for the audience. The speaker was excellent and allowed ample time during the event and after to ask more specific questions which was very helpful.

The speakers used a wide range of examples throughout making the content accessible and easy to understand as well as giving food for thought as a take away. I would highly recommend, and I look forward to future events.”

Conclusion

Thank you so much to Jen from Glass Digital for supporting us with this event. We gained some fantastic insights and will be sure to take them forward within our own marketing practices. Please take a look at all the wonderful things they do over on their website.
