The purpose of the startup programme:

  1. Establish new businesses in the North East that have a focus on immersive technology.
  2. Support local people to realise their potential as entrepreneurs.
  3. Demonstrate new and innovative uses of immersive technologies to all types of businesses.

What will you achieve on the programme:

  • A deeper understanding of immersive technologies and the ways in which Digital Catapult can help to support new businesses in the immersive space.
  • A complete business plan personalised to get your business off the ground.
  • Access to a network of experts, funding, investors to help on business and innovation journeys.
  • Membership of a group of new immersive tech businesses that will join the PROTO and immersive community in the North East.
  • A new business registered with ongoing support to succeed.

On the programme you will:

  • Learn to pitch your business or idea
  • Get inspired from local success stories
  • Learn how to setup a business
  • Understand your chosen market and research competitors
  • Develop your first business plan
  • Learn about immersive technologies
  • Get to grips with start up finance
  • Understand how to legally protect your ideas
  • Compete for funding to help start your business

Who this programme is for:

  • You will need to have an idea for a business that requires immersive technologies.
  • You can be completely new to the start-up world, or already have an existing business and want to set up a new business around a new commercial idea.  
  • You or your team, will need to have a basic idea of different immersive technologies and how they can be used in business settings.
  • Some technical knowledge of immersive technologies is beneficial.
