Sunderland Software City has joined forces with The National Innovation Centre for Data (NICD) at Newcastle University to lead the Hartree Centre North East Hub.  

The North East has been chosen as one of only three other hub locations, after Newcastle University won the bid at the end of last year. The other two hubs offering support are based in Cardiff, Wales and Ulster, Northern Ireland and all three have been created to empower organisations in their regions and beyond.

What is The Hartree Centre | North East Hub?

The Hartree Centre | North East Hub forms part of the national Hartree National Centre for Digital Innovation (HNCDI) programme, which aims to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the region to gain a competitive edge through the adoption of innovative digital technologies. Through this, all three hubs have received an equal share of £4.5 million to share their in-house expertise and industry engagement experience with those looking for support and to form part of the wider SME engagement support UK network.  

Simply, the Hartree Centre | North East Hub is here to support SMEs looking towards digital technology, whether that be taking the first steps into learning about data or exploring advanced IoT options that can be implemented into their organisation.

What type of support will be available?

Over the next three years, fully-funded support will be provided in a wide range of workshops, one-to-one sessions and events. We will be here to provide information and guidance from basic learning about certain technologies, right the way through to de-risking investment and implementing them.

Some of the topics covered will be:

• Supercomputing  
• Data Analytics
• Visual Computing
• Artificial Intelligence (AI)

When will support be available?

Our doors will be open for support this July.
